About Our Bands
The Shire Concert Band

No where to play? No school Band or are you now working and studying and would like to join a band with a difference? We play varied styles of music, including contemporary music, film scores, classical pieces, and music from different genres. New music is provided each term and that keeps rehearsals exciting, fun and ready for a variety of performances supporting many events in our local community.
Please note that we are not a competition band.
Rehearsals are held Monday nights at Caringbah North Public School between 6 – 8pm, you will be warmly welcomed.
The Shire New Horizons Band
The Shire New Horizons is a place where adult musicians, beginners and return players can join and share their love of music! We have over 60 members who all enjoy learning and helping each other each week. Of course, we take some time out for morning tea in there as well!
Presently we support wind and percussion instruments that can form a concert band. Concert band instruments include flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, bass guitar and percussion. Rehearsals are held on Thursday morning at The Menai Scout Hall Treloar Place, Menai between 9am – 1pm, each band runs approximately one hour. Oh, and Morning Tea is at 10 am!!

Concert Band
The Concert Band is for the more experienced and adventurous players who want to be challenged with contemporary and classic tunes in a concert band environment.

Beginners Band
If you've never played an instrument before or play but want to try something new, the Beginners Band is for you. We start from the very beginning and go step by step in learning about your chosen instrument and music.

Intermediate Band
Feel like you are getting the hang of your instrument and want to take on some harder pieces? The intermediate band provides a supportive environment to take your playing to the next level.

New Horizons Jazz Group
The Shire New Horizons Jazz Band was started to give the more advanced members of the concert bands an avenue to learn how to play in the jazz and blues genre. This group is a lot of fun and has grown quickly. Members improve their fundamentals skills of jazz and swing styles as well as exploring the wonderful world of improvisation!
Fees
The yearly fee to join the band is a modest amount that can be paid annually or per term. The one fee allows members to play in any of TSB. The fees are used to purchase new and exciting repertoire yearly and new equipment when needed.
